Seaside Decor Trends 2026: What Really Works

What are the 2026 trends in seaside decor? Authentic, upcycled, a natural palette. The OÈST Ateliers take on it.

2026: the end of seaside clichés

2026 marks an aesthetic turning point in coastal decor. Goodbye plastic seashells and fake lifebuoys: the trend is towards authenticity, noble materials and one-of-a-kind pieces.

Trend no. 1: the return of local craftsmanship

Buyers want to know who makes it, where and how. An OÈST Lampe Babord signed by Nicolas in the Landes has infinitely more perceived value than a similar-looking factory-made lamp sold for a third of the price.

Trend no. 2: upcycled materials, proudly owned

Upcycling is no longer niche. Committed brands (OÈST Ateliers, 727 Sailbags, Bilum) are setting a new standard: character comes from the material, not from marketing.

Trend no. 3: the ultra-neutral palette

Sand, ecru, off-white, storm grey. Navy blue fades away in favour of more discreet tones. A 2026 bedroom is closer to a craftsman’s cabin than to a yacht cabin.

Trend no. 4: French wood as a signature

Local species (oak, ash, chestnut) are taking over from exotic woods. Carbon footprint, traceability, support for the French forestry sector.

Trend no. 5: the unique piece instead of the collection

Rather than a matching set, people choose one signature piece that anchors the room. It is the opposite of the catalogue look: imperfection and personality are embraced.

Trend no. 6: precise geographical references

Rather than a "generic nautical" decor, people proudly show an attachment to a place: a Hossegor keyring, a Cap Ferret artwork, a Phare de Ploumanac’h lamp. Geographical specificity is what makes it authentic.

How OÈST Ateliers embodies these trends

  • Local craftsmanship: yes (a workshop in the Landes, a named founder)
  • Proudly upcycled: yes (recycled boat sails, every time)
  • Neutral palette: yes (whites, ecrus, beiges, navy as an accent)
  • French wood: yes (oak, ash and chestnut for lamp bases)
  • Unique pieces: yes (numbering, signature)
  • Precise geography: yes (South-West keyrings, Hossegor artworks, Breton and Basque lighthouses)
